This morning as my alarm clock was playing NPR my inner DJ was spinning the Mamas and the Papas. Not such a big mystery as to why. The past two days have been drizzly and foggy, and the outside view looks more like the setting for a Zombie movie than an East Coast winter. Even though I’m a Confirmed Eastern Seaboard girl mornings like this make me yearn for a sunnier clime. I know LA is undergoing something of a cold snap right now, but in my mind it’s always summertime.
There’s another reason I have California on the brain. I am going to be celebrating the release of Breathing with an appearance at the Gardenia in West Hollywood on March 7th at 9:00 PM. The Gardenia was the very first gig Michele Brourman and I ever played together and we are thrilled to be returning to the scene of the crime. You’ll find the Gardenia at 7066 Santa Monica Blvd. West Hollywood, CA, and you can make a reservation by calling (323) 467-7444.
Whenever I hear this song I feel like fingernails are being dragged down my spine. SO VERY out of tune! The alto flute is a good 1/4 tone flat, possibly more. I admire the vocal ensemble but boy they had a bad producer to let this particular version be the final one. On a happier note (ha ha) I hope your preparations for the March concert are going well! Have fun!
