I often say that three of the most elemental questions in my life are – What do I wear? What am I going to sing (or listen to)? And what am I going to eat? Day to day is hard enough, but before a gig the questions get even harder to answer. What time is the show? What type of venue is it? What’s the weather like? Am I going to eat before or after? I would love to tell you I only obsess over these questions when it’s MY gig, but the truth of the matter is I do it even when I’m going to sit in the audience of someone else’s show (except the what I am I going to sing/listen to question has been answered in advance).
Fortunately for those of you out there who are like me (and I suspect that there may be many even if you are loath to admit it) I am taking on the task of answering two out of the three questions for one lucky reader at absolutely no charge! In honor of my September 27th gig with Michele Brourman at Mofiddles in Livingston, NJ the delightful people at Shabby Apple, purveyor of terrific designs inspired by
vintage clothing, and I are sponsoring a Gig and Garb Giveaway!
Of course you’ll be listening to ME because I’m giving away a pair of comps for the show on the 27th, but more than that, I’ll be giving away Shabby Apple’s fab Hully Gully pencil skirt for you to wear to the gig. It has a vintage feel with a modern twist and will look great if it’s warm with a pretty blouse and sandals or if it’s cool with a jewel toned sweater, tights, and heels.
Would you be surprised to find that in the process of setting up this little freebie I had to order something for myself? I mean, as long as I was on the site… I might even wear the navy blue tulle skirt I picked up to the gig and then we can Instagram our fabulously fashionable selves!
To be considered for the prize all you need to do is follow me on Instagram or like me on Facebook and leave a comment in either of those places or here on the blog telling me about your plans for your night out with your new skirt. Bonus points if you can work the Hully Gully into your answer. I’ll choose my favorite and post the winner here on Monday September 2nd. If you don’t happen to be in a place where you can get to the show, never fear, I’ll send you a CD/download of my album Breathing. If you’ve got that already, I’ll send you a copy of my collaborator Michele Brourman’s album Fools and Little Children. If you happen to be of the male persuasion, remember the holidays are coming and this would make a killer early present for your favorite female.
After that the only question you need answer is what to eat and even that will be easy as there are several restaurants right in the neighborhood of the venue that will give you and your new ensemb a great night out.
